Global public affairs strategy firm Oaktree Solutions announced today that Onida Coward Mayers has joined the firm as Chief Government Affairs Officer.
Coward Mayers will draw upon her experience as a political and media strategist with expertise in lobbying, government relations and legislative reform to help grow the firm’s lobbying division while expanding its reach to new communities and industries.
In her new role, Coward Mayers will focus on developing solutions in collaboration with communities, organizations, and governmental bodies. Concurrently, she will maintain her commitment to her personal venture Comadre Communications LLC, which integrates her expertise in media, communications and voter policy with her strength and connections in the Black and Latinx markets.

Coward Mayers is a proud Afro-Latina who previously served as Senior Vice President at the MirRam Group, Agency Head for the Voter Assistance Commission under Michael R. Bloomberg, and Founding Executive Director of Brooklyn Community Access Television and Manhattans’ Cable Access Center. Her strategic counsel in governmental affairs, political campaigns, and communications has encompassed a diverse spectrum of clients, addressing local, state, and federal policy, legislative, and budgetary concerns.

Coward Mayers has been at the forefront of voter engagement and media in New York City for over a decade. As a political and media strategist, she is credited for creating and launching several civic engagement firsts, such as NYC Votes, New York City’s Video Voter Guide, Voter Awareness Month, Youth Poet Laureate (YPL) program which became a national model.
Coward Mayers will continue engaging with communities and member organizations. Her affiliations include active membership in historic institutions such as Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., The Links Incorporated along with Represent Women, National Black Professional Lobbyist, the NAACP and advisory roles with Hispanic organizations including Panama 507 Roundtable Group and Dominicanos USA.
